Keepit Lemon Overdrive
The Keepit Lemon Overdrive is a combination overdrive that incorporates a wide-ranging gain overdrive and a blues overdrive. It achieves a sophisticated front end with gently swaying high frequencies supported by a warm midrange, creating a rich and warm full character in the smooth rear end that encapsulates the crisp sweetness of ‘breaking’ blues and harmonic-rich grit. This design maximises the advantages of dual overdrives.
The front end delivers a versatile overdrive with a broad gain spectrum, encompassing clean boost, gain boost, overdrive, crunch drive, distortion, and even fuzz characteristics. The Tone knob ensures consistency in tone, adapting to the characteristics of both the amp and guitar. It can be adjusted clockwise for darker tones with humbucker pickups or anticlockwise for consistent tones with brighter amps or single-coil pickups.
The rear end, whilst preserving the original characteristics, offers multiple features to expand frequency coverage and texture. A 3-way toggle emphasises characteristic midrange frequencies, allowing you to highlight 3.4kHz on the left and 7.2kHz on the right. The drive amount can be adjusted via guitar volume for clean-up, and Presence control for higher-frequency adjustments and asymmetrical clipping option (adjusted through internal DIP switches) are also included.
Additionally, a stack level is added to the rear end overdrive, allowing different level settings when used stacked, e.g., stack level for solo and own level for backing.
To fully utilise the advantages of the dual channels, the selection method for the two drives is provided. Placing the G/R selection toggle at the top allows you to use the rear end overdrive and front end overdrive on the green and red channels, respectively. Placing it in the middle lets you use the rear end overdrive and stacked overdrive each on the green and red channels, and placing the toggle at the bottom allows you to use the front end overdrive and stacked overdrive on the two channels separately.
Implemented high input impedance and low output impedance ensure not to affect any effects in front or behind. Each overdrive includes its own stabilisation circuit, resulting in very low noise characteristics. Internally boosting the input from 9V to 18V provides high headroom, preserving the original characteristics of the signal. Moreover, to control the signal path, electro-mechanical relays are used instead of commonly used FET or analogue switch components in the effects world, minimising colouration by components and preserving the original signal in both true bypass and internal signal flow control.
